Scroll down for information about Rebecca and her work.
Rebecca Brewer is a lifelong Alaskan who lives on her homestead in Haines, Alaska. She enjoys fishing, hunting, growing vegetables, and living a subsistence lifestyle.
Rebecca has been practicing the art of tanning skins with natural methods for over 20 years. Producing salmon leather is the result of many winters of experiments! Skinning, scraping and tanning the salmon skins represents the large part of the work involved in making something.
Fish Skins are very durable and were used traditionally in Alaska for foot wear, rain gear, storage bags, mitten covers, and more!
