Sonora Sunset Pendant (#51)
Sonora Sunset cab finely wrapped in argentium sterling silver wire.
The pendant measures 2 1/4" long.
A little about Sonora Sunset : The blue/green is Chrysocolla, the red is Cuprite (but it also has Chalcotrichite which is the orange/red), and the black is iron. This semi-precious material is known as "Sonora Sunset" or "Sonora Sunrise". This material is from the Millpillas Mine in Sonora, Mexico. The mine opened in 2006. Though most copper mines are open pit mines, this material is covered by 1000 feet of gravel.
A little about the wire used: Argentium sterling contains less copper than standard sterling silver. It was developed specifically to combat the tarnish that occurs as a result of oxidization and it is more hypo-allergenic than traditional sterling silver.
